General[edit | edit source]

Premier League was a container group for the management of up to four individual leagues, that commenced in 2001 and is still operating as at the year 2015.

At the time of it's conception, Premier League brought together two existing leagues, Pro League and Amateur League, while incorporating two additional newly formed leagues at the same time.

While this system does still operate in the mid-20teens, population shedding has resulted in a much scaled down version of the original. One competition remains, taking the form of a small Pro League competition and an Amateur League one, stitched together as one schedule for a single regular season. While technically the correct term, Premier League as a moniker is out of vogue for the competition in current times, with most references employing Pro League as the title.

Participating Leagues[edit | edit source]

  • Pro League - commenced in 1996 (maybe earlier) and a foundation league of Premier League in 2001. Still operating as at 2015.
  • Intermediate League - formed as part of the new Premier League in 2001, dismantled in 2007.
  • Amateur League - commenced in 1997 and a foundation league of Premier League in 2001. Still operating as a separate play-offs competition for lower Pro League teams in 2015.
  • Spring League - formed (as Novice League) as part of the new Premier League in 2001 to handle new teams on the waiting list for the other leagues. Closed down in 2002 but may have enjoyed a reprise afterwards for a short time.
